Air Conditioner Servicing and Maintenance

An air conditioner that has not been serviced will still run, right up until it does not. Dirty filters and coils make the system work harder, cost more to run and push dust and mould back into your home. A regular service keeps it running cleanly and catches small problems before they turn into a breakdown.

Barney is the owner and a tech with 20 years in air conditioning and refrigeration, and he leads a small team at Epiq Air.

What a service includes

A standard Epiq Air service covers:

  • Cleaning or replacing filters

  • Cleaning the indoor coil and checking for mould build up

  • Checking and clearing the condensate drain

  • Checking the outdoor unit, coil and fan

  • Checking refrigerant operation and system pressures

  • Checking electrical connections and controls

  • Testing the system in cooling and heating

  • A quick report on how the system is going and anything to watch

Split and ducted

We service wall mounted split systems, multi head systems and ducted systems. We work on Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Actron Air, and we work on all brands.

Coastal conditions

Living near the beach is great, but salt air and humidity are hard on air conditioners. Outdoor units corrode faster and indoor units can build up mould quicker. That is why coastal homes often benefit from more regular servicing.

How often should you service?

We recommend a service every year for domestic systems, and every three months (quarterly) for commercial systems. Keep the filters clean in between.

Commercial servicing

Shops, offices and cafes can book regular maintenance visits so systems keep running when it matters. We recommend quarterly servicing for commercial systems.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I book a service?

Once a year for domestic systems, and quarterly for commercial systems.

Will a service fix a smell coming from my unit?

Often, yes. Smells usually come from dirty filters, coils or drains, which a full clean sorts out. If it is something else, we will tell you.

Do I need a service for warranty?

Some manufacturers require regular servicing to keep the warranty valid. Check your warranty papers or ask us and we can help.
